What is a Vietnam Temporary Residence Card (TRC)?
According to the Law Entry, Exit, Transit, Residence of foreigners in Vietnam 2014, temporary residence card is a type of document issued by the immigration management agency or the competent agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the foreigner. Foreigners are allowed to reside in Vietnam for a definite time.

– Hộ chiếu còn hạn 1 năm trở lên.

Requirements and conditions for being granted a temporary residence card
– Passport valid for 1 year or more.
– Proof of being granted a temporary residence card of a foreigner with a validity of at least 01 year or more (eg work permit,…)

Step 1: Prepare documents as required by law.
Step 2: Submit:
1. Tại Cơ quan, tổ chức, cá nhân nộp hồ sơ tại một trong hai trụ sở làm việc của Cục Quản lý xuất nhập cảnh – Bộ Công an:
a) 44-46 Trần Phú, Ba Đình, Hà Nội.
b) 333-335-337 Nguyễn Trãi, Q.1, TP.HCM.
1. Agencies, organizations and individuals submit dossiers at one of the two working offices of the Immigration Department – the Ministry of Public Security:
a) 44-46 Tran Phu, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.
b) 333-335-337 Nguyen Trai, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
2. Cán bộ tiếp nhận đơn kiểm tra tính pháp lý và nội dung đơn:
– Nếu đầy đủ và hợp lệ thì tiếp nhận hồ sơ, in và trao Phiếu tiếp nhận hồ sơ, hẹn ngày trả kết quả.
– Nếu hồ sơ chưa hợp lệ thì cán bộ tiếp nhận hồ sơ hướng dẫn người nộp hồ sơ bổ sung cho đầy đủ.
2. The officer receiving the application shall check the legality and content of the application:
– If it is complete and valid, then receive the application, print and hand over the receipt, and schedule a date to return the results.
– If the dossier is not valid, the dossier-receiving officer shall guide the applicant to supplement the dossier for completeness.
Thời gian nộp hồ sơ:
– Từ thứ 2 đến sáng thứ 7 (trừ ngày lễ tết).
Application submission time:
– From Monday to Saturday morning (except New Year and public holidays).
Step 3: Get results:
a) Người đến nhận kết quả đưa giấy biên nhận, giấy chứng minh nhân dân hoặc hộ chiếu để cán bộ trả kết quả kiểm tra, đối chiếu. nhận và giao thẻ tạm trú cho người đến nhận kết quả (kể cả trường hợp không giải quyết).
a) The person who comes to receive the result gives the receipt, identity card or passport to the officer who returns the results of the examination and comparison. receive and hand over the temporary residence card to the person who comes to receive the result (even if it is not resolved).
b) Thời gian trả kết quả:
Từ thứ Hai đến thứ Sáu hàng tuần (trừ Tết và các ngày lễ).

From Monday to Friday every week (except New Year and public holidays).
Thời hạn giải quyết: trong thời hạn 05 ngày làm việc kể từ ngày nhận đủ hồ sơ.
Deadline for settlement: within 05 working days from the date of receipt of complete dossiers.
– Thời hạn của thẻ tạm trú được cấp ngắn hơn thời hạn còn lại của hộ chiếu ít nhất 30 ngày;
– Thẻ tạm trú ký hiệu DT1 có thời hạn không quá 10 năm;
– Thẻ tạm trú ký hiệu NG3, LV1, LV2, LS, ĐT2, DH có thời hạn không quá 05 năm;
– Thẻ tạm trú ký hiệu NN1, NN2, ĐT3, TT có thời hạn không quá 03 năm;
– Thẻ tạm trú ký hiệu LĐ1, LĐ2, PV1 có thời hạn không quá 02 năm;
– Thẻ tạm trú hết hạn sẽ được xét cấp thẻ mới.
Term of Temporary Residence Card of foreigners in Vietnam
– The duration of the temporary residence card issued is at least 30 days shorter than the remaining validity of the passport;
– Temporary residence card with symbol DT1 is valid for not more than 10 years;
– Temporary residence cards with symbols NG3, LV1, LV2, LS, DT2 and DH are valid for no more than 5 years;
– Temporary residence cards with symbols NN1, NN2, DT3, TT are valid for no more than 03 years;
– Temporary residence cards with symbols LD1, LD2 and PV1 are valid for no more than 02 years;
– Expired temporary residence card will be considered for a new card.

– Thẻ tạm trú có thời hạn từ trên 02 năm đến 05 năm: 155 USD/thẻ
– Thẻ tạm trú có thời hạn từ trên 05 năm đến 10 năm:165 USD/Thẻ
Fees/Fees (if any):
– Temporary residence card valid for no more than 2 years: 145 USD/card
– Temporary residence card with term from over 02 years to 05 years: 155 USD/card
– Temporary residence card has a term from over 05 years to 10 years:165 USD/card
